Baby Einstein and Justin Timberlake

Do u really need a special development tape for your child?

There something about that the really puts me off. Yes we have all Baby Einstein tapes. Yes we have bought the green doll that goes Blaaaaaaa. But do we really need it?

My 1st love "our" music and calls it hers. There is something else in listening to hip-hop; trance and more eclectic music that the kids focused music can’t give. I agree that the fact that Mr. Timberlake says fuck doesn’t add to our politeness efforts but I have to admit that it feels cool that we can sing the same song and enjoy it.

Three and a half years ago we were on our way all terrified and exited from the hospital and on the radio was a song we heard million times before but at that afternoon it was our song - a perfect day - after a good cry we arrived home and the ritual that keeps on going till today started - Eminem was on the TV and our baby was danced to sleep.

Maybe it’s my age, maybe it’s the fact that I was once part of the music industry, makes me notice the music and not really care if it aims toward myspace crowed, and I can proudly say that I can get the chills from listening to Dan Zane and Justin at the same level.

I love music and hope that it will always be a part of our life.

  1. Yes, enjoying music with my boys is a favorite past time, and it’s amazing how memories and music go hand-in-hand.

  2. Nope, you don't need baby einstein or raffi, it won't make them any smarter in my book. Hell, I won't let my kids listen to that crap, I can't stand it. We rock out to whatever we like and both of mine are extremly bright. My kids love it all. You should see Nata rock out to the Black Eyed Peas. I say go with what makes you all happy. I don't even worry about the cuss words. My kids know they can only cuss while singing in the car. It’s easy to explain that it is adult words. At least it’s worked so far.

But I may be strange….since I went to concerts with parents from 7 years old on. My parents are big music lovers and I never owned any kids tapes.

Great site and nice topic….I'll be back.

  3. I always thought those Baby Einstein tapes were creepy. Watching an infant totally zone out for hours just didn't seem right.

  4. You haven't rocked 'kids' music until you've grooved to Johnny Cash’s take on the ABCs. Who cares if it slows down their language development - it’s genius.

  5. Good observation, your ideas are right on.
